A Celebration of Art and Spirit
The solo art exhibition “Eternal Ganga” by Shubha Bahadur was inaugurated today, marking the beginning of a week-long tribute to the River Ganga. The event was graced by notable figures such as Sanjeev Kishore and Gautom Rajput, who lit the ceremonial lamp, officially opening the exhibition. Shubha Bahadur, a Delhi-based artist and alumna of the College of Art, Delhi, is celebrated for her mastery in watercolors. Known for her realistic yet emotionally resonant style, she creates her art directly on location, capturing the essence of the landscapes she paints.The theme of “Eternal Ganga” reflects Shubha’s profound connection with the River Ganga, which she considers a symbol of India’s cultural and spiritual heritage. Her paintings trace the river’s journey from its glacial origins in Gangotri to its majestic flow through Prayagraj, Banaras, and beyond.Each piece in the exhibition vividly portrays different facets of the river. The rush of Himalayan waters, the tranquil confluence of the Ganga and Yamuna in Prayagraj, and the radiant ghats of Banaras at sunrise and sunset are brought to life with breathtaking detail. Shubha also portrays the Ganga as a divine goddess, seamlessly blending traditional temple art elements with her unique watercolor techniques.Speaking at the inauguration, attendees lauded Shubha’s work for its depth and emotional resonance. One guest remarked, “Her paintings capture not just the river’s beauty but also its spirit and meaning.”The exhibition was attended by esteemed guests, including Sudha Sama, Anupam Sud, Biman Das, Sheela Chamaria, and Neeraj Bakshi, who all expressed admiration for the artist’s ability to breathe life into the river’s story.
