Vinay Salya, also known as Kasa Vinay Kumar, is an Indian artist renowned for his innovative integration of printmaking and painting. His works, often layered with mixed media, explore complex themes of time, space, and human relationships, using imagery like electronic gadgets, ATM cards, and currency to reflect the omnipresence of technology and finance in modern life. His strength lies in overlapping concepts, creating compositions that evolve visually over time, revealing hidden forms and meanings beneath the surface.

What makes Vinay’s artistic journey unique is that he never intended to become an artist. Born and raised in Eluru & Tadepalligudem, West Godavari, Andhra Pradesh, Vinay was not an exceptional student, and his family doubted his potential. While his classmates seemed to have their futures mapped out, Vinay was uncertain of his own path. His early forays into art began in school when he started making greeting cards for friends, a form of self-expression that sparked a lifelong curiosity. It was only after he saw a poster for the College of Arts in Madras during a trip that he decided to pursue art more seriously.

Before enrolling in the BFA program at Chennai, Vinay spent a year experimenting with different ideas. His uncle, a designer in Telugu film publicity, introduced him to the world of film design, which further fueled his creative exploration. Yet, even then, Vinay was still unsure of his purpose. However, joining the BFA program shifted his perspective. Under the guidance of mentors like Mr. Balu and Mr. Rm Palaniappan, Vinay began to see the world differently, developing a deeper connection to his art. Over time, his work became a reflection of his soul, layered with personal experiences and emotions.

Despite growing success, Vinay never felt entirely satisfied with his work. Even as a professor at a reputed college, he sensed that something was missing. He was  not satisfied even after getting so many Awards, accolades & conducting exhibitions. Driven by a desire to reconnect with his roots, he left his academic career in Chennai and returned to his native place. There, he began creating art that blended his local experiences with global influences, aiming to elevate the art scene in Andhra Pradesh.

Today, Vinay is building his own studio, a space that will allow him to fully realize his artistic vision. His connection to the land of Godavari-its soil and essence-remains at the heart of his work. His abstract, soulful compositions often reflect overlapping phases of human life, emotions, and experiences. To truly appreciate his art requires more than a cursory glance; it demands introspection and an understanding of the layers beneath the surface. This depth is what sets his work apart, making it both visually striking and profoundly meaningful.
