Atrangini: The Majestic Love of Radha and Krishna
When Krishna left Vrindavan for Mathura, Radha felt miserable and deeply anguished. As time passed she became aware about the struggle and turmoil Krishna was facing to achieve his objective to reinstate the shattered ethos of Dharma. She knew that no one except her could understand Him. She kept waiting for Him to return to her at least once….but in vain!
After the devastating Battle of Mahabharat, Krishna was cursed by Gandhari that He and His dynasty too would face the same fate. Although an incarnation og God, Krishna did not cross his human limits and acceted the curse with all humbleness. This aftermath of the deadly war, raised several questions before Him regarding the future of human values.
Krishna, as though in a trance, started walking towards Vrindavan. He felt that he had to meet Radha before returning to Dwarka ! Who else could understand his heart wrenching pain?
In the very first lines of the poem, it’s clear that Krishna has not forgotten that Radha is not only his love but also his inspiration – Antrangini !
In that golden evening, when they came together one last time, Radha is able to gauge Krishna’s silent turmoil in one glance. She knew that it’s only through reviving the memories of their eternal love that she would be able to reassure Krishna and bring back His faith in the resurrection of humanity . In doing so, she also finds all answers to her own questions…. that haunted her during her lonliness in the gloomy years of their separation !
