Art beyond imagination
ONKAF Gallery Presents: “AN EYE IS AN EGG”
by Lorena Ruiz Pellicero
The ONKAF Gallery is proud to host “AN EYE IS AN EGG”, a thought-provoking exhibition by Spanish artist Lorena Ruiz Pellicero. The exhibition, which opened on Friday, November 8, 2024, ran until Monday, November 18, 2024.
This evocative showcase delves into the surreal and fleeting moments that occur in the delicate transition between wakefulness and sleep. In these liminal states, our senses deceive us, blurring the boundaries between reality and illusion. The exhibition poses a compelling question: are the images and scenarios we perceive in these moments truly unreal, or do they represent a different, perhaps deeper connection with existence?

About the Exhibition
“An eye is an egg” explores the interplay between the visual and the imagined, questioning how we perceive the world around us. The exhibition invites viewers to consider how our eyes-our primary tool for interpreting reality-can sometimes deceive us, especially in moments when reality and fiction overlap.
Pellicero’s work weaves photographs, objects, stories, and experiences into a cohesive narrative, creating a playground of possibilities. Her approach transforms seemingly nonsensical or non-existent imagery into a profound dialogue about existence.
“An eye is an egg when I go to bed,
An egg is an eye and I could be dead.”
Artist’s Statement
“My artistic practice begins with the photographic image and extends into video art, text, and installation. I navigate the spaces between reality and fiction, language and absurdity, to challenge conventional understandings of existence.
During my residency at ONKAF Gallery, I immersed myself in the sensory and cultural landscapes of Delhi. The stories I’ve heard, the things I’ve seen, and the experiences I’ve lived have shaped ‘An eye is an egg’. This project invites viewers into an intermediate space-a crossroads of the lived and the imagined.”
This unique exhibition is an invitation to step into the world of the subconscious, where perception and imagination collide.
