Usually art fairs are organized for three-four days, but for the first time in Delhi, an art festival has been organized for a month. Organized by Manikarnika Art Gallery of Jhansi at Pyarelal Bhawan in Delhi, this festival started on 10 November 2024 and will run till 9 December 2024.
The Manikarnika Art Festival, which began on November 10 and will continue till December 9. This festival is being organized at Pyarelal Bhawan in Delhi’s ITO. This festival has been organized by Jhansi’s Manikarnika Art Gallery, whose director is Kamini Baghel. The structure of this one-month festival is different from other art festivals. In this, three-day exhibitions have been organized on different themes. In these exhibitions, separate exhibitions have been organized for senior artists as well as folk artists, young and budding artists. An exhibition of women artists was organized. In this festival, the work of more than two hundred artists from across the country has been displayed.
In this series, a three-day group exhibition of women artists was inaugurated on 22 November 2024. Paintings and crafts of more than two dozen women artists from all over the country have been displayed in the exhibition. This exhibition is notable in the sense that an exhibition focused on women artists has been seen in Delhi after a long time. Recently, a private gallery had organized such an exhibition, but it had more big and popular names. There are many such women artists in Indian contemporary art who are doing art even while living in small cities away from metros. The work of such women artists has been seen in this exhibition.
These women artists may not be big names in contemporary Indian art or in the art market, but with their creativity, they create a positive environment in favor of Indian art. These artists include working women to ordinary housewives. There is also an age gap between them, but the courage to create something and speak their mind unites them. From human forms to the beauty of nature, and abstract paintings and sculptures, this exhibition has a lot of expressions and personal feelings. These artworks create a silent dialogue between the creator and the audience, a silent dialogue in which many layers of meaning are revealed.
This exhibition, which marks the presence of women artists, is an important intervention in the current art scene and puts forward the idea that they cannot be underestimated in the field of art. Most of the works included in the exhibition impress with their excellence at the level of artistry and expression. Director of Manikarnika Art Gallery Kamini Baghel said that the objective of this festival is to give an opportunity to senior artists as well as new artists to exhibit their art. She said that artists from small cities of the country do not get the opportunity to exhibit in Delhi. Through this festival, he has got the opportunity to showcase his art in the country’s capital for the first time.
