“Samnvya Shaurya” A Symbol of Unity Unveiled at DSSC Wellington


Wellington, January 9, 2025 – The Defence Services Staff College (DSSC), Wellington, witnessed a significant artistic tribute to national defense with the unveiling of the bronze sculpture Samnvya Shaurya. Created by Delhi-based sculptor Neeraj Mittra, the sculpture embodies the synergy between India’s three defense forces-Army, Navy, and Air Force-highlighting their unwavering commitment to national security.
A Tribute to the Armed Forces
The sculpture integrates key military symbols:
- Army Boots – Representing the resilience of ground forces.
- Navy Anchor – Signifying maritime strength and security.
- Air Force Wings – Depicting agility and aerial supremacy.
All three elements are supported by outstretched palms, symbolizing the nation’s collective will to protect its sovereignty.
Inauguration Ceremony
The unveiling was led by Lt Gen Virendra Vats, Commandant of DSSC, in the presence of Mr. Parminder Singh, Chief General Manager, SBI, Maj Gen VS Sekhon, Major General Administration, DSSC, Brig RK Prusty, Facilitator, and Lt Col Kim Praag, Project Officer.
Commending the installation, Lt Gen Vats called it “a powerful representation of the unity and synergy that define the Armed Forces and serve as the backbone of national security.”
The Visionary Behind the Sculpture
Renowned visual artist and sculptor Neeraj Mittra is the co-founder and Chief Art Strategist at Art’est – An Art Abode, Gurugram. A leading innovator in contemporary art, his works blend traditional craftsmanship with modern narratives, pushing artistic boundaries.
Mittra’s monumental sculptures and installations have gained widespread recognition for their cultural depth and technological innovation. His pieces are known for evoking themes of unity, resilience, and national identity, making them prominent in exhibitions and public spaces worldwide.
