The Sunday weekly Artisanal Market at Bikaner House is a unique initiative set in a heritage repurposed building of Bikaner House that celebrates the art of craftsmanship, sustainable living, and organic products. Proposed to be held twice in a month, this market transforms Bikaner House into a vibrant hub where local artisans, lifestyle brands, and organic producers come together to showcase their creations. The Market was inaugurated on 10th November 2024.
This in-house initiative aims to foster a deeper understanding of the value of artisanal and organic products, highlighting the skill, tradition, and sustainability behind them. The market provides a platform for small businesses, craftspeople, and local producers to display their products and connect directly with visitors, offering an opportunity to share their stories, processes, and passion for their crafts.
The market not only promotes local talent and sustainable practices but also enriches the community by creating an inclusive space where people can appreciate and support the heritage of craftsmanship and the benefits of organic living. At times, the market is organised by holding a specific theme to offer delightful insights and interesting palette to the visitors.
Objective: Sunday Artisanal Market is an initiative of the Govt. of Rajasthan and Bikaner House Management Society (BHMS) to increase awareness of the local produce and support small-scale industries, handicrafts, organic produce in a customized setting. The market has evolved as a fulcrum of new artisanal trends where visitors come to enrich their experiences through a variety of products supporting sustainability and craftsmanship.
Timing and Schedule: The Market runs every Sunday from 11 am to 7 pm (timings are subject to change) at Bikaner House.
Sunday Market held on 8th December 2024: The market witnessed an ensemble of scintillating performances right throughout the duration. The colourful theme and the vibrant ambience of the market were perfectly matched with energetic performance in the morning by Delhi Drum Circle. In the late afternoon, the soulful connection of Radha and Krishna was explored by Mahima Bhayana through a unique dance performance called – ‘Raqse Ashiqaan: The Nakshatram Qala Nrityam. Finally, the market culminated with a Rajasthani Traditional puppet show. A special lucky draw was conducted as a fun activity for the visitors. This pet-friendly market was a visual treat for the animal lovers. Many visitors were seen walking across the market with their adorable pets.
