Against All Odds A Story of Grit and Glory
Praveen Hingonia’s journey into the world of cinema is a testament to resilience, passion, and relentless pursuit of dreams. Born in 1977 in Delhi and raised in Karol Bagh, Praveen’s fascination with storytelling began with his annual performance in the local Ramleela, where he took on the role of Sita. This early exposure to the stage ignited his love for acting and storytelling, setting the foundation for his future.
His dreams took shape when, after high school, Praveen participated in a dance competition. The overwhelming response from his classmates and their applause cemented his commitment to acting. Seeking formal training, he enrolled at the Shri Ram Center of Performing Arts in Delhi, completing a two-year acting diploma that prepared him for the challenges ahead.
In 1999, Praveen moved to Mumbai, fueled by ambition. Auditions became his daily routine, each one a step closer to his goal. His break came with a role in the Doordarshan serial Tulsi, which opened doors to a steady stream of work in television until 2015. However, his journey was far from smooth; periods of rejection and sparse work tested his resolve. Yet, Praveen’s passion only grew stronger.
During difficult times, Praveen turned to writing, creating stories that reflected his own struggles and dreams. His debut screenplay, Sart Kita, marked the beginning of a new chapter. Supported by his family-especially his parents and his wife, Priyal Hingonia-Praveen found the strength to continue, driven by their unwavering belief in him.
As he shared his stories, Praveen’s natural talent for storytelling and directing became evident, inspiring him to explore directing himself. His vision culminated in Navras Katha Collage, a film that brings nine distinct characters and emotions to life. Initially, Praveen sought a prominent actor to portray these roles, but when interest fell short, he decided to take on the challenge himself. Transforming physically and emotionally for each role, he crafted a film that deeply resonated with audiences.
Navras Katha Collage has since captivated the festival circuit, earning around 65 awards and establishing Praveen as an extraordinary storyteller. Set for release on October 25, 2024, this film reflects his 27-year journey, fueled by grit and an indomitable spirit.
Looking back, Praveen credits his success to a positive outlook and a simple philosophy: embrace every opportunity. “In this industry,” he says, “your true godfather is your attitude and the willingness to say ‘yes’ even when the odds are against you.” Through his journey, Praveen Hingonia has not only fulfilled his own dreams but inspired others to believe that with passion and perseverance, dreams can indeed come true.
In a remarkable journey to bring Navras Katha Collage to audiences across India, Praveen Hingonia traveled from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, personally promoting his film. This epic roadshow, spanning the country’s diverse landscapes and cultures, exemplified his dedication to sharing nine powerful stories that resonate universally.
